Subject: Important: TXT Record Compliance Deadline - January 1, 2025
Dear [Healthcare District Name] Team,
We’re here to help you stay ahead! As you may know, a new requirement to add a TXT record to your root domain is part of the CMS Hospital Price Transparency Rule. While this went into effect on January 1, 2024, enforcement begins on January 1, 2025—so now’s the time to prepare.
This update makes hospital pricing data more accessible and machine-readable, supporting CMS’s commitment to providing patients with clear, actionable cost information. For the official compliance timeline and instructions, visit the CMS Hospital Price Transparency Fact Sheet.
Our Holiday Closure
Our offices will be closed from 12/24/2024 to 1/2/2025, so we encourage you to tackle this before the holiday season to avoid any last-minute issues.
What You Need to Do:
- Learn about the requirements. Review the requirement details on the CMS website. You can review an example of this applied on a Streamline site here.
- Create the TXT file. Name it cms-hpt and ensure it’s formatted as specified by CMS.
- Add the record. Once you have the file created, follow our step-by-step tutorial to add it to your site so it is available by appending cms-hpt.txt to your root domain.
Need help? We’re here for you! Contact us at support@getstreamline.com before the holidays, and we’ll guide you through the process.
